tub clogged in Apt next doors tub was also clogged

both tubs meet at the wall and share the drain, first one to clog is still clogged. got the other one to drain but not this first one. had a plumber out he ran a snake and a smaller snake like thing hooked onto a drill. snaked out the roof vent but still no drain. at first some ugly black stuff came out of the drain when snaked. what do we try now even the plumber is stumped. He said we might have to pull out the tub. to get to the main drain. that is alot of work if thats what has to be done then ok. But if there is other things to try first.
