The definition of plumbing is the term given to water and gas pipe systems in a building. Plumbing as a verb means skilled trade of working with pipes and tubing for water systems for households and for drainage of waste.
The basic principals of plumbing are from ancient Roman-times but, with improvements, the main ideas are still in use.
Nowadays, plumbing is a system of pipes and a fixture that is installed into a building. This is used to distribute water in a house and to dispose wastewater. The expression “plumbing” means that the water system is designed for only one house, not for the district or a group of houses.
Water systems usually use high-pressure pumps to distribute water. When the pressure drops, there may be only a rivulet coming from the tap or, in worst case, no water at all.
The plumbing also includes the drainage system and the venting system. The drainage is a group of pipes that are used to lead sewage water from the house to the sewage system. The venting system, however, uses pipes to lead air from outdoors to the drainage system; this is useful because it prevents drainage from back pressuring and it helps to reduce bad smell coming from there.
