Plumbing has been used in different forms for over 8000 years. First notes of peoples abilities to use plumbing and to build these systems is known from the Roman Empire, and first waterpipes were made of straws and clay. Romans had water systems in every scale (small and large) to meet the needs of people. These systems had usually similar aqueducts, lead pipes, heated floors, and also dams and drains. The plumbers from these early Roman times left remarkable mark on our civilization and to our lives.
In the old times in Rome, water flowed continuously to different households through a nozzle. Naturally there was a payment system and this was charged by the size of the nozzle that lead to a particular home.
The materials that are used in building plumbing systems have changed remarkably, but the main principles of these watersystems, that make our lives easier, have remained the same. The main purpose of plumbing systems is that clean, potable water is lead in different homes under some pressure, water is then used at a fixture and finally it exits the home through a drain system by means of gravity.
This, as the main idea of plumbing, has been effectively in use for thousands of years and even though there are some supplements in technology, the genial invention of the Romans is still in use in every household.
